Here is my plan for building my own Falcon Northwest Centrino Machine for only $1300. Any info you got (like where I can buy cheap Centrino processors) would be helpful.

Falcon Northwest's Fragbox TL configured with 1gig of RAM, 7200 HD, and Centrino 1.7Ghz comes out to: $2,821.88

Now, as you may or may not know Falcon, Alienware, Dell, Toshiba, etc etc don't actually make the laptops.

Falcon uses the CL56 which I found
here for $784 with free shipping.

We got our Turkey, now for the stuffing.

Hitachi 40Gig 7200 RPM HD $121
Corsair 512MB PC3200 Laptop Memory $84.27 x2
1.6Ghz Centrino CPU $209

Grand total: $1283

If anyone is laptop savvy please let me know if you see anything wrong. For example, I almost bought a Centrino with 1MB L2 cache instead of 2MB.

My mom is on my case about my hospital bill, so if I can find a way to get the price under $1200, that would be sweet.

Update:

Mission successful. Everything went smoothly except for the wireless card not being able to pick up my wireless router. I think I needed to get an Intel 2000 or 2100 Mini-Pci and not a 3rd party card. I'll have to buy one when I get more money next month.

Yup, it comes with everything you need. So all you need to buy is what I listed.

Everything is in the carrying bag that comes with it. (CPU fan, plates to screw in on top of everything).

Only thing is it does NOT come with instructions on how to put everything together. You get instructions as if you are buying the laptop already put together. Do not attempt this unless you have at least put together a desktop computer.

My only gripe is the display. In games it looks fine, but on solid colors you can see that the top is a little darker than the bottem.

Yeah, you should have no problem.

You don't even have to unscrew the case.

Who is this anyway?
