Theatrical Trailer

Okay, we got Mars, but the rest looks like Resident Evil.

You know how I don't like to go off on rants...but this is enough.

Apaprently Hollywood has just about run out of creative ideas. The evidence is clear with the astounding amount of "remake" cinema, that is quite sub-par.

Now onto this movie. A lot of people will go and see this movie, and I'm sure I will be one of them. I wish that hollywood would get the clue to the success of these "adaptaion" movies. The reason Doom is such a popular franchise, is because of its original storyline. I can not really recall any other games where the creatures you fight are clearly distiguished as "Demons from Hell." The reason resident evil has been successful as a game franchise is the story and eerie feelings the game provoked (the first one especially) of things popping out at you and dogs breaking through windows as you walk down a hall. The movie industry totally negates all the work the game story writer's have accomplished.

I wonder when Hollywood is going to wake up and realize that "zombie" movies are total wastes of money. The zombie hasn't changed in the last 50 years. The recent failures in the zombie chain, Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead, should prove that YOU SHOULD NOT MAKE FUCKING ZOMBIE MOVIES. The Resident Evil films are also a let down, because.... its still zombies the same old zombies, there are way too many characters that are constantly on the screen, and you lose the real "fear" the game provides, the randomness of being attacked and fighting back. I truly hope that the "creatures" in the trailer are demon's from hell, and not just some "genetic experiments gone awry." Why not just say there were some "Cosmic Rays" or "Gamma Radiation" or "aliens from another planet" its the same old cliche plot lines.

Now for future rants, there are 2 more "Game Adaptation" films that I know of on the Horizon, Spy-Hunter and Hitman.

The Spy-Hunter game is really the best parts of the Bond Movie series, the car chases. It'll be hard to make a bad one of these, since I don't know how many people know what the hell the spy hunter games were about (story line that is, I haven't a slightest clue). The only possible thing to make this movie suck, will be the acting. The Rock is playing the main character, Alec Sects, in this one. The Rock is a wild-card actor. He can be pretty good, Walking Tall, Be Cool. But he can also be horrible, Scorpion King. The only downfall is if he plays The Rock, playing the character, instead of him playing the character.

Hitman has a similar sword of Damocles to deal with. Hitman will star Vin Diesel as Agent 47. I personally liked playing the hitman games, because you didn't have to be all steathy like Splinter-Cell, you could go and kill people whenever you thought it would work out for you. The problem is Vin Diesel is know for his acting style, which is Mark Vincent playing Vin Diesel playing the character.

I hope to god hollywood gets a fucking clue and starts making better game adaptations and better movies overall.

Don't forget BloodRayne which just finished (Kristanna Loken as Rayne), Dungeon Siege, Hunter: The Reckoning and Far Cry. The last three there are directed by Uwe Boll who has already fucked up movie versions of Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead. To answer your question of "Will Hollywood ever learn?" No. Most studios lost their care for integrity MANY years ago. Now economics is all that matters. Basic economics are that, as long as the movie makes back every penny it cost to make (very few don't do this, even the stinkers), someone will make it. If you want to see bad movies (and games for that matter) go away, then don't spend money on them and convince the millions of others not to either. Unfortunately, as you know, there are just too many stupid people out there for that to happen. Get ready to have more of your games raped by the movie industry. GTA:The Movie (Rated PG) anyone?

More on Dungeon Siege:

Plot Outline: A man named Farmer (Jason Stratham) sets out to rescue his kidnapped wife and avenge the death of his son -- two acts committed by the Krugs, a race of animal-warriors who are controlled by the evil Gallian (Ray Liotta).

Cast:
Claire Forlani .... Solana
Matthew Lillard .... Duke Fallow
Ray Liotta .... Gallian
Kristanna Loken .... Elora
Ron Perlman .... Norick
Burt Reynolds .... King Konreid
John Rhys-Davies .... Merrick
Will Sanderson .... Bastian
Leelee Sobieski .... Muriella
Jason Statham .... Farmer

Some good, some bad. Bottom line: The movie will suck Krug balls (rahr!).
