There is a World Tournament for Battlefield2 being planned. The tournament will be played as 8 vs. 8 on 16-Player Size Maps.

Question 1: Can we get 8 people together to play?

I know we don't have 8 regulars anymore, but I'm confident that we know enough people we could get 8.


Question 2: Do we have any chance at all against the competition?

I think at least the 4 of us that play regularly can hold our own with any of these people. We are consistently in the top ranked on the servers we play on (even with the cheaters). Pod and Venom are back. Pod was a super-badass in BF1942. Crawdad, Scrotie and Neo were good too.


If we can get 8-10 people together and really take it seriously, I think we could kick some ass. Thoughts?

We should actually play together at some point to see if we can. Is this 8 on 8 commander or no?

We would own if we could get 8 people and work out strats for each map. Still 4 people short I think.

In other news here's how to fix XFire to launch and autojoin someone's BF2 server.

To this end, here is the xfire_games.ini entry that will work for BF2 joining. You will have modify it and enter your BF2 username and pass where the bold XXXX are below:

Remember, you must change the XXXX above to YOUR BF2 username and password, and be sure to properly capitalize any letters necessary in your BF2 username and or password or joining will not work!

To use this, simply copy and paste it into your xfire_games.ini file replacing the existing BF2 entry. Once you have done that, save the file, restart Xfire, and you should be ready to join BF2 games again.

Hey Dave, don't hijack threads you Jack Thompson mofo!

The rules have not been finalized yet, so I don't know on the Commander thing. Obviously that will make a slight difference (but not too much on 16 player maps). If we can get 8 people together, I will try and set us up a practice match against another group. Dave, we may want to see if Francko and a few of those guys would play? I think we have enough variation in our play styles (at least the 4 most active of us) that anyone we can add will just compliment our mix.

I am in and personally the stats really dont mean shit anyway.. Most peoples stats are full of shit.

My K/D kicks ass. Find someone with a higher ratio than that. I don't see your stats. Seeing how it's a team game, win/loss means absolutely nothing unless I know everyone on the team and we are all working together. Otherwise, one person isn't going to turn a match, no matter who they are. Go eat your scrimps and stop trolling our boards.
